Allen CERT and Plano Amateur Radio Club would like to host a 2-day boot camp to help Allen CERT members prep for and pass their Technician’s license exam and become licensed amateur radio operators.
In order to offer this course, we must have an attendance large enough to justify the procurement of instructors and examiners.
The class will take place on December 3rd and 4th, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm both days.
The cost for this course is $14.00 and includes the exam fee. Payment is due on arrival. If you do not have a study guide, Plano Amateur Radio Klub (PARK) will have rentals available for $14.00. After the rental is returned at the end of class, the fee is applied to the cost of the course.
Sign up below if you would like to take advantage of this opportunity to study with the experts and take your Technician’s License exam for a minimal cost!
Note: There is no need to register if you already signed up via this form.
Allen Fire Department will be cutting the ribbon on the brand new Station 2 and hosting an open house on Saturday, November 12th.
This event is open to the public.
The ribbon cutting starts at 09:30 AM. The open house runs 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM. AFD’s brand new Truck 2 will be formally introduced to the bay with a special ceremony. You don’t want to miss it!
Allen CERT members are requested to attend and represent the organization. As this event coincides with the Big X, Dave Campbell will be coordinating the CERT presence and is looking for volunteers. If you would like to help out, click here and register or leave a comment.
About Station 2
Allen’s oldest fire station had become obsolete in many areas. Rather than add onto the existing structure, the entire building was demolished and rebuilt from the ground up. Construction began just over a year ago and was completed in late summer of this year. The new building sits on the same footprint as the old station and provides many modern amenities for our local heroes.
2016 is drawing nearer to a close which means the holidays are upon us. In addition, we have the Big X and our annual Meet & Greet coming up soon. For those reasons, there are no monthly Continuing Education classes scheduled for the remainder of the calendar year.
The 2017 syllabus will be forthcoming but plan on the next class taking place in February. If you would like to suggest topics for next year’s syllabus, leave a comment below.
Happy Holidays to everyone. Stay safe and warm (or cool)!
