CERT Simulated Dispatch // ARES Simulated Emergency Test
September 24, 2016 @ 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Mark your calendars for this year’s simulated CERT dispatch on Saturday, September 24th at 09:00, in conjunction with the CC ARES Simulated Emergency Test.
On Friday, September 23, regional and statewide nets were activated in response to a major hurricane potentially impacting the southern gulf coast of Texas. On Saturday morning, a major earthquake occurred in Oklahoma causing widespread damage in our area with major impacts to the transportation infrastructure, buildings, communications towers and public utilities. The gas pipeline between Oklahoma and North Texas has been damaged and service interrupted. Local communication and internet services have been interrupted or overloaded and are unreliable.
CERT will establish Incident Command at the Allen EOC where net control will stand up the Allen CERT repeater and relay messages between CERT teams and CC ARES net control. Teams will be dispatched to undetermined locations around Allen and report mission status.
Team Captains and Coordinators will receive a text message notification from the city’s Computer-Aided Dispatch system. Upon receipt, you can expect your team captain to get in contact with you to disseminate information. We do expect to mobilize resources to make sure your vest, hat, and backpack is accessible.
